Brazil's benchmark Ibovespa closed up 1.06% at 167,293 points on Wednesday, with banks, retail and logistics stocks leading the gains, Misto Brasil reports.

The dollar fell 0.65% to R$ 5.4518 in the spot market, in line with a weaker dollar worldwide.

Why it mattersDaily moves matter less than the direction of bank stocks, which carry a large weight in the index.
