Brazil's antitrust regulator, Cade, has tied EMS's purchase of Medley to the sale of medicine brands, Folha de S.Paulo reports.

EMS announced the deal for Medley, Sanofi's generics unit in Brazil, in March, in a transaction reported at about US$ 577 million.

Why it mattersThe decision shows how Cade handles large deals: it can clear a transaction while requiring remedies. Foreign buyers should plan for that step.
